ingly problematic in the lives of both recreational and competitive athletes, both physically and psychologically. These injuries can lead to an inability to perform athletically, in addition to initiating degenerative changes at the joint level. In 1972, Title IX of the Educational Amendments was passed to enable women to participate in academic and athletic events without gender discrimination. Since that time, more than 2.36 million girls have participated in high school sports, compared to 300 000 in Effectiveness of a Neuromuscular and Proprioceptive Training Program in Preventing the Incidence of Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injuries in Female Athletes

Prevention of anterior cruciate ligament injury in the female athlete.

The relationships of gender, age and training to the incidence of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury are pivotal to developing a comprehensive neuromuscular and proprioceptive training programme to decrease ACL injuries in female athletes. A prophylactic neuromuscular and proprioceptive training programme may have direct benefit in decreasing the number of ACL injuries in female athletes. ...

Anterior cruciate ligament injuries in female athletes: Part 2, a meta-analysis of neuromuscular interventions aimed at injury prevention.

Female athletes have a 4 to 6 times higher incidence of anterior cruciate ligament injury than do male athletes participating in the same landing and pivoting sports. This greater risk of anterior cruciate ligament injury, coupled with a geometric increase in participation (doubling each decade), has led to a significant rise in anterior cruciate ligament injuries in female athletes. The gender...

The Prevalence of Neuromuscular Deficiencies Associated With Non-Contact Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury in Healthy Collegiate Student-Athletes

Background: Identifying lower extremity defects during high impact activity, such as landing, especially in young athletes who play team sports, could help to prevent non-contact lower extremity injuries. The Tuck Jump Assessment (TJA) is a screening instrument designed to recognize neuromuscular deficits related to Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury. The current study investigated the pre...

A randomized controlled trial to prevent noncontact anterior cruciate ligament injury in female collegiate soccer players.

BACKGROUND Neuromuscular and proprioceptive training programs can decrease noncontact anterior cruciate ligament injuries; however, they may be difficult to implement within an entire team or the community at large. HYPOTHESIS A simple on-field alternative warm-up program can reduce noncontact ACL injuries. STUDY DESIGN Randomized controlled trial (clustered); Level of evidence, 1. METHOD...

تاثیر تمرینات عصبی- عضلانی، قدرتی و ترکیبی بر نسبت قدرت همسترینگ به چهارسر در زنان بسکتبالیست

Background and Objective: Researchers have pointed out that higher rate of female athlete lower extremity injuries are related to functional imbalances in hamstring and quadriceps muscles and suggest the use of training protocols in order to gain adequate functional muscle patterns. The aim of this research was to investigate the effect of neuromuscular, strength and combined trainings on H/Q s...
